New Year's Centerpiece and Postcards

Once again a new year is upon us. I have created a New Year's centerpiece, nothing too fancy though. My hubby is a New Year's baby so I think it's fun to decorate a bit for it.

I bought this cheap top hat at a party store years ago but I would love to have the real thing from the Victorian Era. So my New Year's hubby can really feel like a Victorian!
For some height I used my pedestal cake stand. Brought out the mirrored ball ornaments, and a small bell one, for a little glitz and shine...

a vintage foil wrapped paper bell that I stuck a small mirrored ball in so you couldn't see the brownish colored paper in there. :) And I liked it that way!

And this year, at WalMart, I found these cute black mirrored top hats to add to all the glitz, I have one on both sides of the cake stand.

They came with a small sprig of ugly black evergreen with gold berries so I took that off and just added the ribbon.

And now for the postcards. These are my latest ones that I bought at a sale last month. All with the ever popular clock theme.

I want to take this time to thank each of you for following and reading my blog, I have enjoyed getting to know you through your blogs and look forward to a new year of blog reading and inspiration, and friendship.
Wishing you a blessed New Year! Happy 2017!

Christmas Luncheon for Blogger Friends

Okay, me again! As I said in my last post, I had Bernideen and Janice over for a luncheon.

And before I go on, could I just tell you what precious friends and people these ladies are. I feel so very blessed to know them and have them in my life.

The table is pretty much set like it was for yesterday's luncheon...

except I used the Friendly Village china today.

I served potato soup, bread, salad and for dessert I made a buche de noel cake.

Janice rocked and sang lullaby's to Lacey...

as the caroler's sang in the powder room, a gift from Bernideen.

We had great fun, but alas it was time for my dear friends to depart and the decked out halls are all that's left...

until the kids and hubby come home, that is! :)
Wishing you all a Happy Christmas!

Christmas in the Dining Room

Here we are, once again, for another Christmas post but this time in the Dining Room.

I have always liked the looks of garland hanging from the ceiling down to the chandelier so this year I found the perfect faux garland at Michael's to use for this. I used four of them.

I found the silver glass beaded tassels at Michael's also, to hang on each end. Although there were only 3 left, and I needed four!

I had a luncheon yesterday and this is how I set the table. Pretty simple really.

I brought out the cranberry goblets and used my Pfaltzgraff Winter Berry pattern. We had quiche, bread and salad. Sorry no photo of that. :(

For a little something sweet I made some peanut butter fudge and petit fours. Also served Godiva Chocolate Truffles.  Using Friendly Village dessert plates.

I dressed up the windows with more of the same garland.

Using a pair of paper mache cherubs and faux frosted fruit sprays.

Used more of the same fruit sprays on the stepback cupboard, showcasing a hand painted cider pitcher that a friend gifted me.

And on around the room, over in the corner, on the teacart...

is my latest auction find! A silver plated punch bowl with matching cups. I spent two hours polishing that thing! But I love it!

And with these antique mercury glass garlands that I found at an estate sale over the Summer...

I graced this white feather tree with their elegance and sweetness.

The feather tree is also an estate sale find, and is actually real goose feathers, not faux.

Hung this Victorian inspired piece on the china cabinet...

Dressed up the "3 faces" compote with some glass ball ornaments.
The Christmas plate above is handpainted of an English Robin and nest in some mistletoe and holly.

And lastly, are some pomander oranges that I made. A first for me!

Thanks so much for visiting and I'll be back soon with another Christmas luncheon post, a blogger friend luncheon! Bernideen and Janice!

More Christmas in the Parlor!

Now for the Christmas decorations in the Living room and more in the parlor.
This is the tree that I mentioned in my last post about just getting done last night, after my son got home from college to help decorate it. My daughter too, but she lives at home.

This tree has a hodgepodge of ornaments on it. Kids homemade ornaments from throughout the years, Hallmark, glass, and still Victorian inspired ornaments. Can't get away from that. :)

Below are a few ornaments that I got just last month at a sale, they are decoupage and I think are actual images from antique Godey's Lady's books, with added earring embellishments.

They look pretty hanging on the tree, they are quite large so I tucked them in near the trunk.

And then there's these ornaments with the cotton clothes. They were plain when I bought them and just yesterday I finally got around to embellishing them with trims, tinsel and miniatures.

Moving on around the room is the mantel, first time ever I moved the antique clock and placed the creche as the centerpiece of the mantel! Wow, that's big for me because I love the looks of the clock there. But it's only temporary. This is what the mantel looked like last year and where I had the creche last year.
http://victorianwannab.blogspot.com/2015/12/who-was-is-jesus-christ.html

The creche I bought last year at an estate sale and it is a paper mache school art project, NOT DONE BY MY KID! Can you believe that? I can't, but it's so cool I couldn't just leave it there. I felt like it was a true work of art no matter who's kid did it. :)

I always like to work in the cherub theme,

to go along with the ceiling mural in the parlor...

And beyond the feather tree, on the pier table...

are my new "old" Stafforshire dogs! The real deal too, I bought them in St. Louis last month when Bernideen and Janice and I went on a friend's outing.
The seashell dome is one I made several years ago.

Look at that cute OLD face!

Over on the Library table for a little parlor amusement take a look at a stereoscope card or two.

Check out this frozen fountain in front of this Victorian house!

On around through the looking glass you see the mantel and there's my clock to the right of it! So, it didn't go too far!

And sweet little Lacey waiting for Santa, and for your comments! :)

Wishing you all a memorable holiday season leading up to the blessed day of Christmas!
