A New Bunny and other Easter Decorations

At one of our sales this past week I bought some new Easter decorations. And just in time for Easter. Since St. Pat's was just this past Thursday I didn't start decorating for Easter until last night (Saturday eve). I try not to show the exact same decorations from year to year so as not to bore you too much. :)

I was very excited when I dug this guy out of the box at the sale and immediately put him in my "want" pile. Isn't he wonderful?

He is actually quite large for a decoration. To show you just how large, look at this photo of my Lacey, who weighs 7 1/2 pounds, next to him.

Instead of making him the centerpiece for my dining room table, I decided to put him right here on the pier table, below the tulip oil painting and to the left of the bell pull,

(a close up of the Easter card shown above)

where he can keep a close eye on the handpainted real eggs.

Over here on the parlor table I did a little staging with another bunny, a smaller one, that I got from the same sale.

Here is a photo without the flash so you could see more of what the bunny really looks like

and with the flash so you could see the fenced area better. The flash did weird things to the bunny!

A close up of the rabbit family in the ceramic egg.

Over on the Library table I did a little staging using a milk glass plate I bought at a sale this past Fall. The little flocked chick I got at this last sale as well. The milk glass egg I had already. As you may know, I have several of these eggs.

I have a few in the basket in the background...

and a basket full of them on the dining room table.

In the foyer, on the hall stand, I have a basket of bright colored marble eggs. Along with my newest lamp addition, from one of our sales.

And a set of three hand embroidered pastel towels, from this past week's sale, to compliment the marble eggs.

Well that is it for this year's Easter decorating, but let us not forget that Easter is not all about the bunnies, the chicks, the eggs - all symbols of new life. It is about the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross, the resurrection of Jesus and the new life that we can all have in Christ Jesus, when we accept him as our Lord and Savior. To God be the Glory!

Wishing you and yours a blessed Easter!

Update on the Master Bath!

After 10 years of wanting the big mirror and hollywood light strip taken out of the master bathroom, I can now say it is done!! Yay hubby!!

I had in mind a pair of antique fancy oval gilt frames to replace the big ugly plain mirror but soon found out that would not be an easy task so decided to settle on any large matching oval frames that would "do" until I find what I really want.

I bought the mirrors at Hobby Lobby and the light fixtures from Menard's.

The fixtures are called polished copper but look black to me. I prefer brass or polished brass fixtures but they are not so easy to find these days so I settled with these. I liked the scroll shape and the color seemed to go with the frames, which are a copper and brown leaf with black trim.

The frames were $89.99 each at Hobby Lobby, which I thought were way too high so I waited until they were half price. They both had some scrapes and little spots of missing leaf so I ended up getting them both for 80% off!! That made them $19 each!! With a bottle of Metallic "Rich Expresso" acrylic paint I covered up the spots and scrapes!

In a small room it is so hard to get a picture of the room as a whole, so here is a shot from the doorway going in to the bedroom.

Here is what it looked like before. Needless to say, I am very happy with its new look. :)

As for the decorating, I kept this wall the same but carried out the cherub and lace theme throughout the room. I say cherub, but I have putti and fairies as well.

Putti is plural of putto and is described as a figure in a work of art depicted as a child, usually nude and sometimes winged
Cherub is a type of angel that is usually shown in art as a beautiful young child with small wings and a round face and body.
And either of the above are called fairies when they have insect or butterfly wings.

So with that information, over on the corner wall shelf is this cherub...

And these cherub hanging up over here...

and to add more I found this wonderful vintage plaster plaque at an antiques mall last week,

with its neat 3-D sweetie pie putti (I say they are sweetie pie, but if you look closely it doesn't look like they are doing sweetie pie things, so I came to the conclusion that they were fighting over the blanket, or loin cloth, whatever you want to call it, and the putti on the far left is escaping with it while the others are still fighting!)

Along with this framed piece of Bobbin lace, made in Brussels,

I knew they would be the perfect pair on this wall...

Holding my Q-Tips is this vintage ceramic, Made in Japan, little holder. And what is it everyone? A Fairy, right? Because it has butterfly wings. Wow, what a to do!

A cherub soap dish with cherub soaps

and a putto (only 1) Meissen type bottle of some sort that I use as a hatpin holder...

all on this tray.

Lace curtains help to soften and add romance and charm to the space. Sorry for the dark photo though.

And that is it for my cherub, putti and fairy bathroom! And lace. I hope you learned something new today! (winks) Thank you so much for visiting and have a wonderful week!

Gold Rimmed Plates for St. Patty's Day

St. Patrick's day will be here soon so I thought I would do a little decorating for it.  After all, my favorite color is green. And gold!
Recently I volunteered at a Church rummage sale and went away with a few treasures that are perfect for this post.
I bought a set of 6 Limoges dinner plates for $5! 2 have small chips but pretend that you don't know that.

The tatted green striped towel belonged to my Great Auntie, as did the white fringe piece. If you look closely, it has 4 leaf clovers made into it. On top of the plates is a small handpainted something or another, not sure if it is just a wall hanging piece or a coaster? But anyway I liked it just the same, especially for 10 cents!

Here is a closer view of it, along with the green art glass enameled water tumblers that I have shown before.

I added some glitter shamrocks to St. Pattify it a bit. Not sure if that is a word! lol

I also got this cute little leprechaun baby felt ornament for 10 cents at the Church sale. I thought he, or she, would be perfect in this little boullion cup filled with gold, to represent the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow!

It's not very fancy, but here is the table set with the plates. It looks a little boring so that is why I saved this photo til the end! :)

Recently I purchased this tea cup at a resale shop for $3. I thought it would be nice for the occasion. It is made in Staffordshire, England By Royal Kendal. I don't believe it is anything too spectacular but I like Lily of the Valley. I have a bed of these that bloom in early Summer and they are so fragrant!

There's even a little sprig on the inside of the cup! How cute, right?

If you would like to see my previous years' St. Patrick's day posts you can click here and here.
Thank you so much for your visit and have a wonderful week ahead!
